At St. Francis’ Canossian College, the Music Department is a cornerstone of our holistic education, nurturing students’ artistic talents while fostering a lifelong appreciation for music. With a proud tradition of musical excellence, the department is home to a wide range of strong and well-established ensembles, including the Senior Choir, Junior Choir, Wind Ensemble, String Ensemble, Chinese Instrumental Ensemble, and the Symphony Orchestra. These groups form the heart of our vibrant musical community, where students are encouraged to grow, perform, and excel. 

Our music teams consistently demonstrate a high standard of musicianship and teamwork. Over the years, they have earned distinguished accolades in prestigious competitions such as the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows, and the Joint School Music Competition (JSMA). These achievements are a testament to our students’ dedication, discipline, and passion for music.

Complementing our ensemble programme, the school offers a broad range of instrumental classes to support students of all levels — from beginners to advanced performers. These classes provide individualized instruction in both Western and Chinese instruments, guided by experienced and passionate instructors. They not only help students build technical proficiency and musical expression, but also serve as a stepping stone for joining school ensembles and participating in performances and competitions.

Beyond competitions and regular classes, our music students contribute actively to school life through numerous performances and events. These include significant occasions such as Form One Orientation Day, Information Day, Christmas Carolling, Inter-House and Inter-Class Singing Contests, Graduation Ceremonies, and various Liturgical Celebrations. These events provide meaningful platforms for students to share their musical gifts, while enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the school community.
