Joint University Programs Admission System (JUPAS)

Introduction
Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) is a scheme and the main route of application designed to assist students with Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination results (past and / or current) to apply for admission to programmes offered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions.

Starting from the 2015 cycle, applicants can apply for admission to the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) full-time bachelor’s degree programmes through JUPAS.

Program Choices
You may select from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 20 programme choice (which include full-time bachelor's degree programmes of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions, associate degree programmes of CityU, higher diploma programmes of HKIEd and PolyU, and SSSDP full-time bachelor's degree programmes offered by the SSSDP institutions).



Other Education and Training

Vocational Education
VTC provides a comprehensive system of vocational education and training services through its member institutes including the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, Institute of Professional Education and Knowledge, School for Higher and Professional Education, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, Hong Kong Design Institute, Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre, Chinese Cuisine Training Institute, Maritime Services Training Institute, Pro-Act Training and Development Centres, Youth College, Integrated Vocational Development Centre and Shine Skills Centres. In respect of vocational education, the VTC offers a wide range of full-time and part-time courses which lead to formal qualifications from post-secondary 3 up to degree levels.

Yi Jin Diploma Programme
In the 2012/13 academic year, the Education Bureau introduced the Yi Jin Diploma (YJD) Programme (in place of the former Project Yi Jin Programme) to provide an alternative pathway for secondary 6 school leavers as well as adult learners.

考慮因素

家長及同學考慮是否到海外升學時宜先考慮以下因素:

學生個人意願
家長在考慮把子女送到外國升學時宜先考慮學生的個人意願。一方面,如學生要求到海外升學,原因何在?家長須先清楚了解,再作決定。有時,轉換學習環境,會對學習有幫助,有時則正好相反。另一方面,如學生極不願意到海外升學,家長是否有其非去不可的理由?學生如是在被逼的情況下轉學,不一定對其學習及成長有正面助益。

學生年齡及自理能力
兒童在成長過程中需要父母家庭各方面的照顧,宜考慮學生的自理能力,如:學生是否可照顧自己基本生活所需?又能否照顧自己的情緒?

親友聯繫
升學的國家是否有家庭之直系親屬或其他可靠之親友?學生本人又是否與之相熟?可考慮除學校外是否有其他可委託為監護人之親友,以便在有需要時代為處理有關事務。

學校類型及管理風格
選校時該選私立學校?公立學校?還是教會學校?各類學校除學費不同外,還有管理上的分別。部份國家如美國,海外學生不可入讀公立學校而只能選私立學校。
不同國家的學校亦有不同的管理風格。一般而言,美國及加拿大採開放式管理,對學生的監管不如英國來得嚴厲。
此外,如美國方面有社區學院,大學中亦有所謂人文(Liberal Arts)學院;不同規模的學校,其辦學理念及師生比例亦會有差異。
家長選校時亦可留意選取與學生成績水平相若的學校,以便學生得到最好的發展。有關學校之成績水平,大學方面可參考其所收新生在不同考試所獲取之成績及整體大學排名。

學制及課程銜接
香港現時採英式七年中學三年大學的學制,故如選擇到英國升學,銜接方面不會有問題。美國、加拿大及澳洲,不同國家不同地區,其學制與香港略有出入,故宜考慮兩地學制及課程之銜接。
如是升讀高中或大學課程,可向有關院校查詢科目豁免及學分轉移的問題。一般而言,香港中學會考的成績廣泛獲承認;高考的成績亦可在大學中獲得部份相關課程的豁免。

課程類型及教學語言
某些國家或地區以某類型課程著稱,如瑞士及夏威夷之酒店管理課程享譽全球。
教學語言方面,香港學生到英語系國家升學不會有大問題,不過須留意部份地區亦會兼用其他語言,如加拿大魁北克省亦用法語教學。
有關英語水平,部份學校可能要求學生考取TOFEL或ILETS等考試。

學歷承認
須留意所選修之學位與課程是否獲香港政府承認及是否為國際承認,一般而言,公立大學一定獲承認,私人大學方面,著名的如美國長春藤聯盟的大學亦當然沒有問題。要清楚有關學校的學歷認可,可先向該國的學術評審機關及該國駐香港之領事館或駐港官方學術機構查詢。
如有疑問,可向香港學術評審局查詢。

經濟能力
家長可因應個人經濟計劃決定往哪一個國或哪一個區域/州/省升學。即使同一個國家,不同地區的學費及生活費亦會有差異,如西澳洲地區的學費及生活費即較新南威爾斯便宜兩至三成。此外,不同學科之學費亦可能會有差異。
到美加澳洲等地升學,除四年制課程外,美國更有兩年制社區學院課程可供選擇。此外,近年香港不少大專院校紛紛與外國大學合辦銜接課程,學生先在港修讀一至兩年,再到有關大學修讀餘下課程,即可得到該校所頒授之學位。

氣候與政局
一般而言,學生很快會適應不同國家的氣候,反而某些敏感症如花粉敏感等會對學生之學習構成影響。
此外,家長可考慮當地政局之穏定性及社會治安是否良好。
